About us
ProfiSeal GmbH was established in 1995 in Germany. We design and manufacture highly reliable propeller-shaft and bulkhead seals for the yacht and shipbuilding industry. We developed and patented The World’s first fireproof Bulkhead Seal A60, famous for its easy installation due to split housings and split seal rings.
The main activities are in the segments of workboats (including passenger and cargo ships), government vessels (including patrol boats and “special crafts”), and yachts. ProfiSeal also offers a wide stock of spare parts. Our seals have received type approvals from major international classification societies like DNV, LR, BV, and include a Product Design Assessment (PDA) from ABS.
ProfiSeal has a worldwide network of selected and authorized distribution partners, which ensures reliable delivery and service, and exports seals to more than 50 countries worldwide.

ProfiSeal also offers a wide range of stock spare parts.
Fireproof Bulkhead Seal
ProfiSeal is the supplier of the world’s only fireproof bulkhead seals for drive shafts. Like conventional bulkhead seals, the fireproof version has the task of sealing bulkhead openings for shafts. In addition, fireproof bulkhead seals ensure that fireproof bulkheads are actually fireproof.
In the event of a fire, carbon dioxide is released inside the seal, which protects the actual sealing rings by smothering the fire at this point. This prevents a fire in the engine room from spreading further into the ship.
ProfiSeal fireproof bulkhead seals are fireproof to A-60 and watertight, have a dry-running gap seal and are easy to install thanks to split housings and sealing rings.
Technical Features
Fireproof A-60 and watertight, type-approval test per IMO 2010 FTP Code, Part 3 and MSC85/26, Add. 1, Annex 22

Temperature (t): -5 … +950°C
Gliding Speed (v): max. 40 m/s
Bulkhead Seal
Bulkhead seals are designed to seal bulkhead openings to waves and protect adjacent spaces from flooding. In the event of a leak, the sections adjacent to the bulkhead seal remain dry, allowing a safe return to port,
ProfiSeal bulkhead seals have a dry-running gap seal and are easy to install thanks to split housings and split sealing rings.
Optionally, the bulkhead seal can be pressurised with a sealing gas (e.g. compressed air, etc.). In this way, possible leakage can be kept at almost zero over a long period of time.
Technical Features
dry running gap-seal
easy installation due to split housing and split seal rings
allows high shaft speed
allowed radial shaft movement: +/- 5 mm
Operating Limits
shaft diameter: 50 … 600 mm

Propellershaft Seal
A propellershaft is part of the ship’s shaft system and seals open or closed stern tube systems so that no water can penetrate and no lubricating oil can escape. Similar to a mechanical seal, it is virtually leak-free and leaves no oil or grease residues in the fairway. At the same time, penetration of dirty water into the bilge is prevented – thus eliminating costly disposal.
The ProfiSeal propellershaft has a shaft diameter of 20 to 90 millimetres (or 100 to 280mm) and is available in both water- and oil-lubricated versions. The axial sealing concept prevents the shaft from running in, which is otherwise common with radial seals.
In addition to the propellershaft, we offer the Pneumostop unit, an inflatable standstill seal. This makes it possible to replace, repair or clean mechanical seals and propellershafts when the shaft is at a standstill without having to call in a shipyard.
Technical Features
water or oil lubricated facetype seals
seawater resistant also in in aluminium-version, for open or closed sterntube-systems
easy installation
high lifetime even in extremely dirty waters
no shaft-wear like with radial type seals due to facetype design
allowed axial shaft movement: +/- 5mm
allowed radial shaft movement: +/- 2mm
